Qi Gong/Yoga/Pilates

This class is a fusion of three very different practices that meld beautifully. Qi Gong is a derivative of Ti Chi, which is 5000 years old. Both are ancient Chinese martial art forms whose benefits are connectedness of mind and body, balance, flexibility, fluidity, strength, improved health through flowing, unobstructed chi and endurance. Yoga is an East Indian based practice that is centuries old and was designed to unite mind, body and spirit. Pilates is a fairly new methodology created by Joseph Pilates the 1950's intending it’s use for Ballerinas/Dancers where he lived in New York City. Its benefits are focused around strengthening the core section of the body as well as increasing flexibility. In the warm-up segment of this class we will utilize Qi Gong to center our beings, quiet our minds, warm and begin limbering the body and to begin moving the ‘Chi’ or life force/energy around our bodies. The main segment of class will be based in Yoga with a smattering of Pilates. I teach a beginner to intermediate style of Hatha Yoga that can be tailored to any physical limitations and in fact improve most. The Pilates that I mix in is there to enhance our mid-section thereby making extremity use much easier. Join us in experiencing the overall glorious feeling of being in your body.
